Pneity

I failed in my last post's mission. I delayed it because I didn't want to showboat with my BIG PLANS while all my better friends are posting stuff about Pride. Not trying to showboat here. What's most weird is that I don't make the announcement to showboat but to inform. Further trouble that I am terrified that it will backfire. Anything I put in text or video that will be seen by current or former coworkers will be seen by HR. We aren't there yet. Gotta get some stuff out of the way first.

I enjoyed a nice day visiting some friends who had barbequed some ribs. We talked nerd stuff, played games, and enjoyed a presence we rarely get these days. Partway through the day, I checked my Twitter and saw that Tekko was in jeopardy.

Tekko is my local anime convention. I have been going since 2004. They just put info out that they are vastly behind on their venue bills and if they can't make $60,000 USD, next month's event will be canceled. Even further, if they can't make $100,000, this year's will be the last. I'm terrified of this. Even though I don't hope to be here after next year, I'm sad to know this may be it. I've met lots of great friends there. Some of the best times of my life were had there. Even when I'm not there to enjoy it, I would be happy to know that others can. The event brings joy to this city that doesn't have many fun nerdy events.

I'm currently the top donator in the GoFundMe. I can't link it here because my blog isn't built to handle links. But I had a coworker reach out to me on the work messenger to point out she noticed. I had someone in a Facebook group call me out, thanking me. This decade has proven to destroy all that is good. We can't have joy, we can't have togetherness, we can't have fun. I want us to have a win. It's a sea of darkness out there. I hate it and I'm taking from savings I had earmarked to move so we can fight this.

I don't want to talk about Tekko in the past tense. I'm losing enough.
